Peak demand controol You didn’t speak to leveraging the software to controol demand limitations set by the user to mitigate on peak demand charges charged for a moment of use in a short period measured like with APS EVERY 30 minutes. Prioritizing loads to mitigate demand. Many of the smart meters speak to this controol but only to manage off grid battery utilization.

How 'real-time' are the data coming out of the smart breakers? If someone turns on the oven connected to a 50 amp smart breaker, how long before I can see the load on my smartphone? Is it instant? Thanks.

Mike, i'm with you on the 'upside down' installation....Now here is an actual instance that caused a University to have all the outlets turned 'upside down': A secretary wearing a necklace with a metallic chain bent down to pick up some papers and her necklace chain went across a plug (not completely inserted in the receptacle) and she got shocked and a burn from the contact. The University reasoned if the ground pin was 'up' the connection would have been broken when the chain burnt off between the ground and hot side. (Assume a two-wire grounded plug) Makes one realize that anything is possible and to never assume anything!

Why do manufacturers show the receptacle upside down? A proposal to require this in the NEC has failed multiple times. No one wants to do it this way. If the mfgrs want it to ber installed this way, why don't they require it as "Manufacturers instructions". This would force compliance.

So what is the AFCI protecting? Arching in the appliance? My understanding is that they are meant to protect against arching in the wiring.

What type of warranty do these have ?

Very useful device but are Arc faults trips really the cause of fires? Generally it's high earth loop impedance that causes extension leads to melt, bad workmanship, old outlets, old wiring, non maintained properties and rodents that cause fires. AFD are smarter than the normal mcb but they still appear to be very primitive when you consider what microprocessors are capable of doing.

Does anyone own this thing? If so please tell us if you liked it or not. In as many words as possible. We're thinking about buying one but 350.00 is a bit steep. Arc faults are the way of the future.
